Leah’s music walks the line between vulnerability and bravado, turning late-night breakdowns, romantic disasters, and fierce self-awareness into pop bangers that hit hard and stay stuck in your head. Beyond her solo success, she’s also a sought-after collaborator—recently co-writing Kesha’s fiery new single “ATTENTION!” and bringing her chaotic-genius energy to stages around the world, from Lollapalooza to Wireless Festival. Whether she’s owning the stage or crying in the club (in style), Leah is the definition of a main character, and her sound reflects every unfiltered mood. In this exclusive interview with Miami Living, Leah opens up about the inspiration behind “Dead Sexy Body,” the magic of working with Kesha, and why her music pairs perfectly with neon lights, bad decisions, and bold lipstick. From fashion to vulnerability to delusional confidence, she’s here to remind us all that it’s okay to spiral every now and then. “Dead Sexy Body” feels like such a confident, cinematic anthem. What inspired the song, and what was going through your mind while writing it? Leah Kate: That song is literally me walking into the room like I’m the main character in an early 2000s movie. I wanted to make something that felt hot, chaotic, and a little unhinged in the best way. It’s kind of about reclaiming your confidence after being completely destroyed — like, “Yeah, I’m spiraling, but I look amazing doing it.” It’s sexy, dramatic, a little toxic — very on brand for me. You recently collaborated with Kesha on her single “ATTENTION!”, which is a huge moment. What was it like writing with her, and how did that creative chemistry come together? Leah Kate: Writing with Kesha was such a full circle moment for me — she’s always been a huge inspiration. She walked into the room with so much fire and freedom, and we just immediately clicked. There was no filter — it was loud, it was emotional, it was real. We wrote “ATTENTION!” in this super raw, fearless way. It actually came together because she called my producer while we were together, and he said he was with me, and she said, “Can I pull up?” And when she got to the studio, she was like, “Soooo, let’s write a song together?” It was insane. “10 Things I Hate About You” blew up on TikTok and radio. What was that viral success like, and how has it changed your relationship with your music? Leah Kate: It was surreal. I’ll never forget after I wrote it. I did go home after writing it and played it for my parents and said, “Omg, I think this is a smash hit.” I just had that gut feeling. Watching it explode on TikTok and hearing it on the radio was so validating. It made me trust my instincts way more. Like — maybe being delusional is the move. You’ve toured with some massive names like Madison Beer and Hayley Kiyoko. Any standout memories from the road that helped shape you as a performer? Leah Kate: The Madison Beer tour was such a special one for me. Madison was so supportive and called me into her dressing room every night to debrief the shows, chat, and hang. She was a real one, and I loved opening for her so much.
