The following interview with co-founders Thom Whiddett and Luke Sweeney delves into the vision behind their Miami debut, their approach to tailoring, and the inspiration behind their global expansion. From their early days on Savile Row to their plans for Miami’s design-forward clientele, the duo shares their insights on what sets Thom Sweeney apart in the world of luxury menswear. ML: Thom Sweeney is renowned for modern British tailoring. How will you adapt this refined yet versatile style to the Miami market, where fashion tends to be more relaxed and vibrant? LS: I think the way we cut our clothes Miami is a really exciting market for us . Our tailoring is a little more relaxed compared to most British tailoring houses .. our shoulder line is more natural and comfortable that you dress up with a shirt / tie or down with a beautiful piece of knitwear or T shirt. ML: Your brand offers both bespoke tailoring and ready-to-wear collections. What should Miami customers expect from their experience at your new store, and how will it align with the city’s unique lifestyle? LS: With the 3 levels to Thom Sweeneys offering ( Bespoke / Made to measure / ready to wear ) we feel Miami is the perfect market for us … of course with the climate we will be using lightweight fabrics that breathe and perform well in hot climates but we have seen during our trunk shows in Miami guys like to dress up . We are also excited to bring a piece of London to Miami where customers can come and relax in our space . I think Sols will also be a lovely addition… clients love to use Sols in london / LA and NYC stores for a drink or game of backgammon. ML: With global expansion into London, New York, and now Miami, what excites you most about entering the Miami market, and how do you envision the brand’s growth in this new location? TW: Obviously since Covid Miami has really grown into a really important city. It has so much to offer. Lots of our clients from all over the world are now living and visiting Miami. We couldn’t resist looking at this great city as a market for us and It’s not just a city to have fun in anymore .. huge international companies are now locating here and everything has just gone up a notch … the restaurants / hotels and now with the design district are all world class! What Craig Robins has created is unbelievable and so unique. What really excites us is we will be the first British tailoring house to open a permanent store in Miami and we couldn’t think of a better place to do it than in the design district. ML: You both started your journey at Timothy Everest before founding Thom Sweeney. How did your early experiences in Savile Row influence the approach and vision for your brand today? TW: This background and training was everything for us and shapes everything we
