ML: How do you and Dan collaborate on a new piece? Can you walk us through the process of taking an idea from concept to finished sculpture? Shana: Dan and I keep a list of symbols and talismans that inspire us and that we’d love to bring to life through our work. Together, we collaborate on every aspect of the process—from refining the design to selecting the medium and colors. It’s a deeply creative and sometimes challenging journey, as we always make decisions together about which pieces are ready to move forward and which might need more time and refinement before they become a reality. Shana: We feel incredibly fortunate to call Miami home—a city that’s a true melting pot of cultures and creativity. The diversity here is a constant source of inspiration for us. For example, we’ve learned how deeply rooted the evil eye is in South American culture, and it’s been fascinating to explore how different communities incorporate positive symbols into their lives.
