Under the artistic direction of Eriberto Jimenez, the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM) proudly presents the premiere of “Aurora’s Wedding,” the III act from Sleeping Beauty, on Saturday, May 11 at 8:00 p.m. at the Fillmore Miami Beach, located at 1700 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139. Featuring recently exiled Cuban dancers who defected in Puerto Rico this past March, alongside CCBM soloists and corps de ballet, this performance not only enriches the artistic diversity of the cast but also sheds light on the real-life challenges and struggles faced by artists worldwide. Their journey of defection likely involves significant personal sacrifice and courage, making their participation in the ballet even more meaningful. This inclusion also serves as a reminder of the power of art to transcend political and cultural barriers, showcasing the human spirit’s ability to persevere in the face of adversity. Eriberto Jimenez, Director of the Miami Hispanic Cultural Arts Center and the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami.
