More on Azarenka Victoria Azarenka, born on July 31, 1989, hails from Belarus and stands as a prominent figure in professional tennis. Achieving the coveted world No. 1 ranking in singles on January 30, 2012, she maintained this position for an impressive 51 weeks, culminating the year as No. 1. With 21 WTA Tour singles titles under her belt, including consecutive Australian Open triumphs in 2012 and 2013, Azarenka’s prowess on the court is undeniable. Notably, she clinched the singles bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and secured numerous prestigious tournament victories throughout her career. In doubles, Azarenka boasts 10 WTA Tour titles and has reached four major finals, alongside three mixed doubles titles, including an Olympic gold medal in 2012. Azarenka has one son, Leonard, with former boyfriend Billy McKeague. Their custody battle led to Azarenka withdrawing from tournaments in 2017 until she returned to the tour in 2018. In March 2022, she expressed sadness and concern over the Russian invasion of Ukraine, given her Belarusian roots and the historically friendly relations between Belarusians and Ukrainians.
