Gucci’s new creative director, Sabato De Sarno, will debut his first collection in Spring 2024. Meanwhile, the Gucci studio has created an in-between collection for the transitional period between De Sarno’s opening collection and Alessandro Michele’s final collection. The collection was presented in a stripped-down Gucci hub, with two sunken circles representing the collaborative circularity of Gucci’s creative community. The collection featured a mix of Tom Ford’s slimline tailoring and Michele’s eccentric stylings, with heart-shaped faux-fur collars, panniers, crystal-trimmed portholes, sequined slip dresses, faux-fur chubbies, boyfriend jeans, button-downs, oversized double-G buckles, and revived horse-bit handbags. The vintage cast included Guinevere Van Seenus and Liisa Winkler, who walked the Tom Ford runway in the ‘90s. The future of Gucci’s creative legacy remains to be seen with De Sarno’s upcoming debut.
