Sit at one of the comfortable booths overlooking the National Hotel’s famous infinity pool. The leafy outdoor terrace is phenomenal, the décor is refreshing, and the food is paired perfectly with an assortment of exciting specialty organic cocktails. Eat and sip! It’s a magical experience. At Mareva 1939 the atmosphere is sophisticated, and the service is outstanding—the servers will be your guide on this journey. They are very knowledgeable, and if you’re not sure what to order, let the experts make a recommendation, you won’t be disappointed. The chef’s specialties include a variety of arroces, and if you thought paella would be only rice dish, you will be pleasantly surprised. The Black Paella, which comes with seared scallops and shrimp, might not look like the traditional paella (the rice gets its color from squid ink) but it certainly tastes delicious. Another arroz dish is the Seafood Rice, which is served with scallops, mussels, shrimp, and clams—a seafood masterpiece. There is also an option to add lobster. Like any good traditional Spanish restaurant, dinner is served family style—this way, everyone can try a little bit. There are four different categories of tapas, Los Classicos—which features Jamon Iberico—De La Huerta, a variety of delicious greens, De La Mar which features a Spanish Octopus served with potato cream, and Carne, under which you’ll find the signature Roasted Bone Marrow—an unexpected delicacy you will find yourself wanting more. The tapas are generously sized, and typically, after ordering a couple of them you’ll be satisfied. However, at Mareva 1939 you will also find a variety of main dishes. The Pricipales feature duck, rib eye, and branzino. So, whatever you are craving, they’ve got your palate covered. For dessert, the Caramelized Torrija Brioche is a delight. Served with coconut ice cream, this warm pastry pairs lovely with the whipped pink guava. It’s the perfect combination. And speaking of perfect pairs, you can’t go wrong with any of the specialty cocktails. The Childhood Memories takes inspiration from this dessert, and in fact uses many of the same ingredients. The Endless Passion is made with fresh passion fruit, it’s a great way to start any meal. Finally, the Melon or Sadia, which features mezcal, will enhance the flavors any dish.
