Earlier this summer, chic minimalist hotspot and Miami’s favorite Japanese restaurant, Zuma Miami, announced its plans to undergo a globally inspired revamp in honor of 10 years since launching into the Downtown/Brickell area. Soon, Zuma Miami is unveiling its next decade of global excellence featuring all-new interior and exterior design elements, fresh, newly minted décor and specialty menu offerings. The internationally acclaimed celebrity hotspot first launched into the American market with the opening of Zuma Miami in 2010 bringing Zuma’s signature style of contemporary Japanese izakaya dining, and promptly setting the stage for the Magic City’s extravagant culinary scene. Over the years, Zuma has kept true to its high standard as pioneers of casual fine dining. Since launching in Miami, the global brand has expanded in the U.S. to include venues in New York, Boston and Las Vegas. “There was never any question of where the first U.S location for the Zuma brand would be,” said Chef Rainer Becker, creator and cofounder of Zuma. “With Miami’s vast culture, energetic and vibrant atmosphere, Zuma Miami was written in the stars. And launching in the downtown district back in 2010 allowed us to do something very special, where we brought new design and food flavors the city had not seen before. We seized the opportunity to expose the Downtown Miami circuit and the area has grown to be one of the liveliest locations outside of South Beach. So now with over 10 years in the market, we are ready to launch the next phase of Zuma Miami which pays homage to where we have been and where we will go.” A place to see and be seen, Zuma Miami’s newly renovated space imbues a global essence that continues to celebrate Miami’s worldly spirit and culture. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a live edge reception counter and DJ booth crafted from huge tree trunks sourced from the depths of Indonesia. Passing the entrance, and located at the heart of the restaurant, is the newly designed bar featuring suspended shelving and adorned with acid etched glass wainscot, giving off a sleek and modern twist. The redesigned space also features multiple textured walls, including a delicate rice paper – handmade in Japan – and a solid wood wall made from multiple hand-selected slabs of suar wood. To pay homage to the restaurant’s roots, multiple bamboo elements are displayed around the dining room including bamboo lanterns around the glass façade and large bamboo poles suspended from the ceiling. The restaurant’s new design is consistent with Zuma’s signature theme of using natural materials and emphasizing their organic beauty. The famed waterfront terrace, which overlooks the Miami River, also features new design elements including new patio furniture and plants to tie the whole revamp together. “It is incredible to see how Zuma Miami’s influence continues to grow after 10+ years,” Rainer Becker added. “With our newest updates to the Miami location, we are welcoming guests to the future of Zuma, which showcases the best designs stemming from Zuma concepts around the globe. We are looking forward to celebrating our next decade of style and innovation.”  The next decade of the beloved downtown restaurant will also feature new activations and creative programming including a weekly DJ series, adding to the concepts glamorous ambience and can’t-miss nightlife, and a host of new cocktails The internationally acclaimed celebrity hotspot first launched into the American market with the opening of Zuma Miami in 2010 bringing Zuma’s signature style of contemporary Japanese izakaya dining, and promptly setting the stage for the Magic City’s extravagant culinary scene.
