Company Dance Headed by acclaimed director, Clarita Filgueiras, this non-profit organization has a Flamenco Performance Company and teaches classes for varied levels of dancers. The Company is comprised of musicians and dancers, and promotes the education and preservation of Flamenco by offering full-length concerts, private shows, and educational residencies. Association Dance This non-profit dance organization puts on the Annual Florida Dance Festival in Miami during the summer. A hub for information anything having to do with dance, they offer classes and workshops. FDA is also the primary partner in the National Performance Network (NPN), an organization designed to increase traffic and creative opportunities for contemporary experimental performing artists of all cultural backgrounds in dance, music, theater, performance art and puppetry. Director, Renee Rich, has performed, acted and sung on stage and the small screen for a number of years. In Motion Dance Center offers dance classes in hip-hop, ballet, jazz, modern, and creative movement for all levels and ages 3 and up. Organization Ballet MCO is one of the largest Companies in the United States; they have over 47 dancers and a budget of over $10 million. Its founding director, Edward Villella, is the first American-born male star of the New York ballet. Viella was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Bill Clinton in 1997, and has brought a standard of excellence to the company. Their Miami performances conclude in mid-May, but classes, workshops, and more are available during the summer. In previous years, the Company has performed in motion pictures such as, The Specialist, produced by Warner Brothers. Organization Dance This large network of performance artists and organizations offers classes, performances, and other educational programs all over Miami. They teach: ballet, modern, tap, salsa, African, Afro-Haitian…. In addition, performance artists, professional teachers, and choreographers offer instruction in gymnastics, acting, piano, voice, guitar, children’s chorus, yoga, Pilates, and tai-chi.
