CONTRIBUTORS CHRISTOPHER LOGAN – FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER Retaining the genteel southern charm of his native Virginia, Christopher Logan discovered his passion at an early age. He grew up in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains at Lake Monticello with a family of eccentrics that encouraged his creative spirit and taught him to always question the status quo. His work - fresh, clean, captivating, but always with a sense of wonder - has appeared in campaigns, designer look books, brand ads and editorials. His unique photographic style is coveted by those seeking to blend cinematic imagery harmoniously with the beauty of the every day. Christopher Logan currently spends his time between New York and Miami where his penchant for humanitarianism has him constantly joining forces with charitable organizations. As a teen, he spoke before the United Nations on issues about the environment, sustainable development and empowering youth. Most recently Christopher shot the celebrity portraits for the anti-bullying campaign, It Gets Better, and has remained a strong supporter and friend to the cause. His most recent exhibition was showcased at POP International Gallery in SoHo, NY; the series entitled, “Tragic Glamour” gave a glimpse into the daytime lives of nocturnal celebrity/Heatherette designer Richie Rich and Ross Higgins. The highly anticipated show drew record crowds and raised funding for The Bailey House. When not working, you can find Christopher listening to Jody Watley, desperately trying to memorize West Side Story’s choreography or at the dog park with Rivington Chantilly Devereaux. Yes, just like Christopher, his dog too has a double-barreled name. FILIPPO VON SCHLOESSER – RESIDENT HIV SPECIALIST Born and raised in Rome, Italy, Filippo von Schloesser has remained in his hometown, traveling all over Europe for work. After a long tenure in the business development field of oil and petrochemical companies, in Italy and abroad, Filippo retired to the world known as NGO called NADIR (which he is presently still chairing), that soon became a foundation aimed at developing, not only social medicine information, but also clinical trials on HIV research and clinicians and patients education. In the past years, he has been invited as a member to the Chairing Committee of the HIV Therapy Conference (Glasgow), the IAS Conference in Rome (2011), the Kuala Lumpur IAS conference 2013. A member of the Italian National Council of AIDS at the Ministry of Health, he is also the editor of the community-based scientific magazine DELTA, edited in Italian four times a year, 8,000 copies. The website of Nadir (nadironlus.org) —has one million downloads/year and three days full of immersion scientific workshops done every year since 1998— has become a cultural landmark in the HIV training, prevention and education. Filippo lives part of the year in Miami Beach, where Lincoln Road meets the beach. This Leo enjoys swimming in the ocean several times a day and eating in the restaurants that have recently opened in Midtown, the Design District and and Brickell. CLAUDIA PAREDES – CONTRIBUTING WRITER Claudia has always had a strong passion for writing. She likes to write about technology, music, food and people. She has worked as a contributing writer for Miami Living Magazine & MacDirectory Magazine since 2009, and has had a blast working on every assigned story. She started writing for the high school newspaper, and while she was in college at Boston University she wrote for the city newspaper, The Cambridge Chronicle. In 2010, she received her bachelor’s degree from B.U. in Communication and a minor in Russian and Eastern European Studies, since she had spent her teenage years living in Moscow and wanted to learn about its history. After graduation, Claudia moved to San Francisco where she worked at YouTube. Claudia is currently taking journalism classes and getting her Master of Liberal Arts at Harvard University. “Juggling school and work is definitely a challenge, but I like staying busy.” She currently works at InContext Design as a Marketing Assistant, and has freelanced as a copywriter for Talbots and Staples. In her spare time, Claudia likes to play the piano, and delight her friends and family with tunes from her favorite movies. Although Claudia has moved around, she never forgets her Peruvian roots, and always plans a surprise trip to see her grandmother.
