Not Your Average Plant-Based Protein Bar GoMacro is making a healthy, balanced lifestyle accessible to all When Amelia Kirchoff, co-founder of GoMacro, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, she decided to forgo traditional treatment methods and opted for a macrobiotic, plant-based diet instead. Her daughter, Jola, also adopted the diet, and the two quickly noticed a shared improvement in health and vitality. In a small kitchen on her Wisconsin-based farm, Amelia created healthy macrobiotic treats from locally produced sweeteners and homegrown grains, fruits, and vegetables to fuel her new lifestyle. Amelia eventually won her cancer battle and the duo set out to spread the power of a plant-based diet, balanced lifestyle, and sustainable farming practices through GoMacro. More than 14 years later, GoMacro remains dedicated to creating clean products for a better future and is improving the world, one bite at a time. Benefits of a Plant Based Diet for You Plant-based nutrition is on the rise due to the many health benefits. Studies even show that consuming plant-based foods is linked to a lower risk of diabetes, obesity and heart disease. Family-owned and based in a small rural community, GoMacro's mission is to spread awareness for a balanced, plant-based lifestyle with products that have positive effects on mind, body, and spirit. GoMacro products are all certified vegan, gluten-free, organic, R.A.W., C.L.E.A.N., kosher, and non-GMO project certified. Good for the Environment With every step up the food chain, about 90 percent of the energy is lost. A farm that could feed 100 vegans would only support 10 strict meat-eaters. So, the more people that go vegan, the less land will be needed for cultivation, leaving us with more land to enjoy. GoMacro strives to minimize environmental impact by sourcing local ingredients from organic and non-GMO certified growers that practice sustainable farming techniques, using compostable trays and consolidating freight shipments to reduce the climate impact of transporting products. Taking sustainability beyond the farm, as GoMacro headquarters expands and grows, it is being constructed from recycled or partially recycled materials.
