As much as anyone may have wanted a break from work or just everyday life, after a day or two of sweating in 100 degrees in our homes or stuck on the road in the gas line with junk food, we were ready to trade everything to get our everyday schedules back. However, nothing could be rushed. Not only were we at the mercy of the wonderful power line workers, but our bodies also refused to simply bounce back. This year, most of us had packed on more than just 2 or 3 summer pounds, either from eating or just from nature's defense mechanism. Our bodies were stiff and in shock. So, what is the appropriate way to get back into our schedules and fitness routines? The smartest way is to always listen to your body. If you are a runner and after the hurricane you felt like barely walking, just start by walking your regular path until it feels right to run again, and maybe even then walk and run. Build back up slowly. And do not beat yourself up for being out of shape. Hurricane Irma was a natural disaster. Although predictable to some degree, the experience of it still sent our bodies and minds into shock. Any shock takes time to digest -- also, we are all different. Crunch Fitness was so amazing in the aftermath. The #nojudgment gym opened quickly and held regular classes for everyone's taste. Crunch's class schedule offers it all, from mellow yoga and Pilates classes to calm-the-mind to challenging boot camp and spin classes to sweat all the stresses away. Crunch unites its members and the community of Miami Beach by giving everyone a fun outlet to be themselves. When aiming to get back into a routine, it is most important to have a healthy support system, to take it one day at a time and truly ease back into life, schedules and fitness routines.
